experiencing nature at its best...Greetings and Salutations from all of us at Tea in a Thermos. Tea in a Thermos is an unofficial hiking group started by PWC (Prince of Wales Collegiate) students in September of the year 2000.

Now its time for a History Lesson. All of this originally started when Antony (Tony) Adler, the President, mentioned to Matthew Grenning, something less than President, that he had the strong desire to go on a hike and fully enjoy the brisk climate of Newfoundland, with a hot cup of tea (from a thermos that is). That was the beginning of a series of hikes along the rugged coast of our beautiful outdoors.

Although our fearless leader Tony is away at Minniesota for university, the tradition is kept alive through vice presidents Matthew Grenning and Justin So, and brought to you by our photographer and webmaster, Derrick Lee.

As of recent, the standard hiking year has ended, i.e. we all gotta go back to university or some other place that distracts us from what is important, yes that's right, basking in the beauty that is mother nature and enjoying it with a nice hot cup of tea. This year was full of surprises and great trips, although not enough trips if you ask me, but with plently of photo ops, which can be viewed here.

We got to see the coast covered in a lovely layer of snow during the Cape Spear to Maddox Cove trip and even more of the beautiful scenery that Newfoundland has to offer during the Fort Amherst to Blackhead. We even got to get together down in St. Philip's for a nice bonfire down near the waterfront. In addition, some smaller group hikes were taken here and there, but all of them were exceptional, including a nice hike in Whitless Bay where we came across a Newfoundland dog, massive, but friendly.

Back-tracking for a moment, an honourable mention of the season includes a surprise earlier in the month of May when one of the original members, Nithum Thain, returned to Newfoundland for a quick visit, and although he has returned back to Kingston, Ontario, we all wish him the best of luck and hope that we will be able to return to Tea in a Thermos in the near future. And like him, we send our best wishes to our fearless leader Antony Adler who has returned to Carleton University in Minniesota, Kim who is back at the University of Ottawa, and anyone else whom is travelling the world aboard.

Well, anyways, if this seems enjoyable and something you'd like to do, just give us a shout and e-mail us at: tea_in_a_thermos@hotmail.com and join us on our next adventure.
